German car sales up again

Thanks to the popular car-scrapping bonus auto sales in Germany showed another rise in May 2009. In May new car registration were up 40 percent on the year to 384,600 vehicles. This was the highest level for a month since Germany’s post- reunification boom in 1991. From January to May 2009 new car registrations were up 23 percent. German’s car-scrapping bonus was introduced earlier this year to boost the auto industry and provides people who scrap cars at least nine years old and buy new ones with a bonus of € 2,500 / $ 3530.
German car makers’ exports were down 24 percent on the year in March to 246,000 vehicles, VDA said.
